Alumni Career Services Support

Michigan Ross’s Alumni Career Services staff provides the tools, resources, and network to help Ross alumni make good decisions related to careers and execute effective career searches. Wherever alums are in the career search process, alumni career services can help with any of the following situations:

  • Planning a career switch in the coming year
  • Currently in the process of a career switch
  • Happy in your current role but interested in staying current

Our Alumni Career Services website details the many resources available free (for a lifetime!) to alumni, from one-on-one career coaching sessions to regular webinars and many career development resources.

Michigan Ross alumni clubs are encouraged to share this information with their club members, and also to contact the alumni career services staff to explore the potential of developing a topic-specific career development webinar on an area of interest to your club.

For more information about the resources the Alumni Career Services offers online and how our staff can support your alumni club specifically, check out this webinar from September 2017 with Angie Blunden, Associate Director of Alumni Career Coaching:

Please direct any and all career-related inquiries and ideas to rossalumnicareers@umich.edu.

AlumniFire

A few clubs have expressed interest in creating an alumni-to-alumni mentorship program. The Office of Alumni Relations is pleased to share that AlumniFire, a networking platform designed specifically for university alumni to interact with one another and with current students, was launched in September 2017. (Read more on the Michigan Ross News blog.)

Co-founded by a Michigan Ross alum, AlumniFire allows alums to choose from a variety of pre-selected services they’re willing to offer to students and fellow alumni, including:

  • Informational interviews
  • Networking
  • Resume reviews
  • Start-up advice
  • Job shadowing and more

Alums have the option to pledge a specific amount of time they are available per month to provide offered services. Once the maximum time for the month is reached, they are removed from the directory until the following month. For ease of use, AlumniFire can also be connected to your LinkedIn account.

Hundreds of Ross Wolverines have already joined AlumniFire. This is a good opportunity for alums worldwide who are looking for alumni to alumni or alumni to student mentoring opportunities that can be done remotely, so please help raise awareness of its existence with members of your club.
